The palm leaf is written in old Tamil. The reader sits in Tamil Nadu. You are in France, and you may not speak a word of Tamil. Put like that, a first Nadi reading can sound more like homework than guidance.

It is less complicated than it looks, and most of the worry comes from three questions: what language will the reading be in, what do the chapters mean, and is it safe to send a photo of my thumb to someone I have never met? This guide answers those, with the time difference between France and India thrown in, since it catches everyone.

Do you have to be Indian, or Tamil, to have a reading?

No. Our readings are open to people of any background, with no Tamil and no family link to India needed. If you are curious about how this works for someone outside the tradition, our post on Nadi astrology for non-Indians goes into it directly.

What matters is not who you are but whether your leaf can be found. That depends on your thumb impression, not on your nationality or your birth chart.

The language question, answered honestly

This is the question we get first from seekers in France, so here is a straight answer. The leaves are in old Tamil, and the reading is explained to you by the reader. In what language is a matter to settle before you book.

When you contact us, tell us the language you would like, and we will confirm what we can arrange for your session. We do not want you to discover on the day that you cannot follow what is being said. A reading you cannot understand is of no use, however accurate it is.

Translation also affects how long a session runs, so allow some extra time if the reading has to be carried across two languages. Our post on translation and language challenges in Nadi sessions explains what tends to get lost and how to avoid it.

What the 12 kandams are

Many first-timers get confused here, so take it slowly. A reading is organised in 12 chapters, called kandams, and each one covers an area of life. You do not have to read all twelve. You can pick the ones that answer your questions.

  1. Character, health and physical makeup
  2. Family, speech, savings and early wealth
  3. Siblings, courage and short journeys
  4. Mother, home, property and education
  5. Children, intelligence and past-life merit
  6. Illness, debts and rivals
  7. Marriage and partnerships
  8. Longevity, sudden changes and hidden matters
  9. Father, fortune, dharma and pilgrimage
  10. Career, status and work
  11. Gains, income and the fulfilment of wishes
  12. Expenses, foreign residence and spiritual release

A few situations do not fit this order, such as a long delay in marriage, tension in the family or an ancestral issue, and for those there are special chapters that can be added. A common mistake is booking one chapter and then regretting that a related one was left out. Our guide on why the kandam structure confuses first-time seekers helps you decide which to choose.

Is it safe to send your thumb impression?

It is a fair worry, and it deserves a plain answer. In Nadi astrology, a thumb impression is used for one thing: placing your thumb pattern into a broad category, which tells the reader which bundles of leaves to bring out. Guruji Kalaimani does this by looking at the ridge pattern. It is not a digital scan, and it is not the kind of biometric that unlocks a phone or a bank account.

Here is what happens to the photo you send. It arrives on WhatsApp, the reader looks at it, and notes the pattern category. We do not forward it to anyone, upload it to a platform or keep it in a database. The WhatsApp chat itself is still subject to WhatsApp’s own retention rules, and if you would rather not use it, tell us and we can discuss another secure option.

The real risk is not the photo. It is a dishonest reader. Before you send anything to anyone, check their lineage, their physical address and how they work. We wrote about this in whether it is safe to send a thumb impression online for a Nadi reading.

For the print itself: men send the right thumb and women the left. Take a clear ink print on white paper and photograph it from above in natural light. We suggest three to five photos from slightly different angles, so at least one is sharp.

The time difference between France and India

India is ahead of France. The gap is 4 hours 30 minutes in winter and 3 hours 30 minutes in summer, because India does not change its clocks and France does.

Season India is ahead by 6 pm in India is, in France
Winter (clocks back, late October to late March) 4 h 30 min 1:30 pm
Summer (clocks forward, late March to late October) 3 h 30 min 2:30 pm

Late morning to mid-afternoon in France is the easiest window. Evenings in France are harder to schedule. We will confirm the time in writing, in both time zones, so nobody turns up on the wrong clock.

What to know before you book

This is the checklist we would give a friend. Our post on what a new Nadi seeker must know before booking has the longer version.

  • Tell us your language, and ask what we can arrange.
  • Decide which kandams you want, or ask us to help you choose.
  • Ask about the fee before you book. We share it on WhatsApp, and we explain the full cost before any payment.
  • Allow a generous block of time. The leaf search takes as long as it takes, and the reading depends on how many chapters you choose.
  • Ask what happens if your leaf is not found.
  • Bring relatives to the call if they remember dates and events. They help with confirmation.

How a reading goes

  1. You contact us by WhatsApp, phone or email, and we agree a date that suits your time zone.
  2. Our team searches for the group of leaf bundles that matches your details.
  3. The leaf is confirmed against facts about your life and family. The reading goes ahead only when they match.
  4. The kandams you chose are read and explained one at a time, and remedies are discussed where a leaf suggests them.

Remedies are optional. Some are simple, such as a prayer or a temple visit. We also offer homam and yantra services and can help plan them from abroad.

What a reading cannot do

It cannot promise outcomes. Nadi astrology is a traditional practice that offers guidance, and it does not replace a doctor, a lawyer or a financial adviser. If you are facing a major health, legal or money decision, take it to the right professional as well.

The method is the same as it is when someone travels to Vaitheeswaran Koil. The confirmation stage is how you test it, because you are the one who says yes or no.

Cities we serve

Paris, Lyon, Marseille and Toulouse, as well as Bordeaux, Strasbourg, Lille, Nice, Nantes and any other town in France. All you need is a phone line or an internet connection. The full booking details are on our page for online Nadi astrology in France.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to speak Tamil?

No. Tell us the language you would like when you book, and we will confirm what we can arrange for your session.

Do I need my birth time?

No. Your thumb impression is the starting point.

Which thumb do I send?

Men send the right thumb and women send the left.

Is my thumb photo shared or stored?

We do not forward it to anyone or keep it in a database. The WhatsApp chat is covered by WhatsApp’s own retention rules. Ask us about other secure options if you prefer.

Do I have to read all 12 kandams?

No. You can choose the ones that fit your questions, and add special chapters if your situation needs one.

Can my family join the call?

Yes. Relatives who remember dates and events can help with confirmation.

Is it as accurate as visiting in India?

The process is the same. Accuracy depends on careful confirmation, and no outcome is guaranteed.

Ask us before you decide

If you are not sure about the language, the chapters or the thumb impression, ask. A short conversation first is better than a booking made with doubts.
